Just Like a Man
Today, Zack, Josh and I were outside, playing at a neighbor's house. Another little girl was there too. She's not new to the neighborhood, but she hadn't played with us or our neighbor before. Our neighbor had an opened beach chair in their garage. This little girl was sitting in it and her babysitter says to her:
"Are you taking a rest?"
She says something that I couldn't make out. Then I heard her say:
"I'm just like a man"
I looked up and I saw her sprawled out, all over the beach chair. We all started to laugh.
I wonder how much help her Daddy is around the house.

Dinner Tonight
I copied this picture from The Pioneer Woman. Don't know if mine will look like this when it comes out of the oven, but this is what I made for dinner (homemade Mexican rice and all)...and I'd agree with Ryan, the rice is completely delicious all by itself! Even Josh gobbled up the left-overs.
Now, only to wait 45 minutes till Hubby comes home so we can eat it!

Valentines Weekend in the Mountains
We're packing up today and heading off to Mt. Baldy tomorrow after church. We'll be there through Monday since Dave and Gabby have the day off. We're taking the trailer and it will really be put to the test. We've not been in that kind of weather so I'm really hoping the heater works well! The kids are excited to wear their snow clothes and boots. We'll be sure to take lots of pictures and post them when we get back. Have a happy Valentines Day!

From 4 Wheels to 2
Today, she did it. She just picked up a friends bike and started riding it. I looked up and there she was across the street, on 2 wheels instead of 4. She was grinning ear to ear and so proud of herself. She didn't make a big deal of it but I knew she was thrilled. And of course, when Daddy came home, we were out in the street showing off her new moves.
Pretty soon, she'll be back to 4 wheels...driving the car.

Soul Searching
In the last few days, I've been realizing how lonely I am. Now don't get me wrong...my husband, kids, family are great. We check up on each other almost daily. But after spending the weekend with my best friend of over 15 years who now lives out of state, I realized (or maybe just let myself admit) that I'm one lonely girl. There's something to be said for a friend who you can say anything to, about anything and understands...even if what you say really sounds bad. She gets it...can almost read your mind. I miss that.
I've been finding disappointment in alot of areas of my life and it's hard to come to grips with. When you take a step back and look at the goings on and find that things have gotten out of control, out of perspective and no where near where they should be, it can be hard to take. I've found myself longing for quiet to reflect and to find rest for my brain and my soul.
There are still many things that I need to come to decisions about. But one thing I've decided...I'm tired of brushing my loneliness under the carpet. I'm tired of telling myself to "suck it up". I'm tired of putting on the face of "everything is fine". I am not an island. I cannot do this "Mommy thing" by myself. I can't be the Mommy I need to be without having the soulful rest I'm in desperate need of.

Allergy Testing
Tomorrow is the big day for Zack (little does he know). We'll find out if Gabby's peanut and tree nut allergy made it's way to her brother too. Gabby's allergy is very severe and because of that, our pediatrician and the allergist suggested that we keep both the boys from nuts of any kind until they could be tested. Testing of this sort is good to do at about 3.
Testing takes between 2 and 3 hours so it's going to be a long afternoon. ShaSha is coming to watch Gabby and Josh while Zack and I spend the afternoon with Dr. Berger. Oh, he's SO not going to be happy with me...and it's going to be a LONG afternoon.
Update: He's not allergic! To anything! There was no screaming, throwing a fit or even 1 tear. He was a trooper and as a treat on the way home, we stopped for Icees and Peanut M&Ms. He thought he was big stuff eating nuts.
