Quote of the Day

(a little background)

We've been talking alot about Jesus living in your heart. We've been talking about making a decision to live for Jesus. There have been questions, and quiet ponderings.

A few nights ago, Zack was having a pretty bad night. He just couldn't keep it together. He was continually doing things to upset his brother. When I say continually, I mean it. It was every 3-4 minutes. It didn't matter how many times he was told to knock it off, my words went in one ear and out the other.

He got sent to his room for the rest of the night.

Not too long after he was sent to his room, I went upstairs to see if we might talk through his behavior. At the end of the conversation, Zack asks me if he can pray and ask Jesus into his heart because he wanted to be a better boy. His question shook me as I was really surprised by this request. We talked through what it meant to live for Jesus and he said he wanted to make that decision.

So, as best as a 5 year old could do, he prayed and asked Jesus into his heart (all while I was crying!) :)

Then, after he said, "Amen", he looked up at me with his eyes big and dancing with laughter and said:

"Mommy, Jesus is living in my heart now! But what happens if he wants to go on vacation?"

Zack's observations about marriage

Talk has turned to marriage in my house. Maybe because Dave and I are celebrating 14 years of marriage today. 14 years? It seems unbelievable!

But this morning at breakfast, we were talking about who the kids wanted to marry. Zack named a little girl from his class, Gabby named a boy named Brandon and Josh of course wanted to marry me and Shasha.

After that conversation was over, Zack says:

"If I don't get married I can't get a license plate"

(huh?)

Then, he comes over to me and says:

"I'm not going to marry Annie from my class. She doesn't listen very well and I think she might be like that when she gets bigger"

Good observation.
