Jewelry TV

This morning when the kids got up, immediately the TV goes on. Well, this morning, Gabby couldn't find the remote to change the channel so we ended up watching Jewelry TV. You would never have guessed how much she loved it....especially when the host of the Tahitian Pearl show was flipping out about the $2500 necklace they were selling for $999.99. Gabby kept yelling, "Mommy, they only have 20 left. They are SO beautiful. You have to call now!" At least she gets it honest.

Another random question

Gabby to Mommy: Mommy, how does a bird carry an egg? Do they carry it with their feet? If they do, how do they land? They would break the egg.

Ladybug

Today Gabby was playing in the fountain in our backyard. She's been obsessed with ladybugs lately! So, she was thrilled when she found one floating in the fountain. As she was doing her best to save the ladybug, I could tell that things weren't going her way.

Gabby: Mommy, the head isn't attached to the body anymore. I think she must be dead. I killed her.

There were no tears, but you could tell she was sad. :(

"i" day revealed

Ok, so only one person gave a guess. I'm sure that means that I'm the lamest blogger on the planet to only have one loyal reader (who happens to be my sister).

And of course, she was right...it was an iPod.

It's hard to believe that 5 year olds know about iPods and such. Amazing.

What I could have brought for "i" day

Gabby's preschool goes through the alphabet 1 letter per week. Each week, they have the kids bring something from home that starts with the letter for that week. They stand in front of the class and give clues about their item and the other kids have to try to guess what it is. We're on "U" this week, but Gabby likes to look back and think of things she could have brought for weeks passed.
So, today, she was thinking about "i" day. Here were her clues. Can you guess what she could have brought?

1. it's white
2. it has a case to keep it clean
3. it sings you to sleep at night

Post your guess in the comments...tomorrow I'll tell you what it was.

Dr. Cook passes away

Dr. Clyde Cook, former President of Biola University passed away on Friday, April 11. He's fondly remembered by all.
When my Dad was interviewing at Biola, he brought the entire family for the interview since the job would mean moving us 3000 miles across the country.
During one of the meetings, we all had lunch in the cafeteria with Dr. Cook. I remember being very nervous (I was 14 at the time). Dr. Cook was sitting across from me and during the conversation, he turned to me and said, "What do you like most about your Dad?". Thinking this was very important...you know, the make it or break it question for my Dad, I wanted to make a good impression and show Dr. Cook that my Dad knew a lot about math and numbers (since he was interviewing for a Finance job), I said, "my favorite thing about my Dad is that he sits at the kitchen table with me and helps me with my math homework".

Of course, Dad got the job!

Dr. Cook, we'll miss you.

Quote of the Day

Gabby and I were discussing how many days it was before my birthday. As of today, it's 8.

Mommy: Oh Gabby, Mommy's body is getting old.
Gabby: Mommy you're not old (while giving me a big hug)
Mommy: Oh yes I am. I'm old.
Gabby: Mommy, you're not old until you have those lines all over your face.

Joshua is 7 months old

My dear sweet Joshua is 7 months old today. It's so hard to believe that he's not the little bundle I brought home from the hospital anymore! He certainly is a joy...doesn't that smile just kill you?
