Better late than never

First day of school. Doesn't seem like we've been in school for 2 weeks, but we have. The kids are adjusting very well to their new school. They are making friends and fitting right in! Zack was blessed with 2 friends in his class. One from preschool and one from church. Gabby didn't know anyone but that didn't stop her from making a new friend everyday for the first week of school. We are thankful for a smaller school and the homey feel it brings!

Josh is loving being at preschool. He likes his class and his teacher. He's so glad he can finally go to "Bubba's skool"

100 Brownies

Tomorrow I have to start the brownie making. See, on Tuesday, my little Daisy is bridging to Brownies.

These little girls have planned their bridging ceremony down to the last little detail...the colors, the decorations, invitations and of course the treats to be served. Their request was brownies with little daisies on the top. I aim to please.
So, now I've got 100 brownies to make along with frosting and cute little piped daisies on the top. WOW that's alot of powdered sugar and melting chocolate.
There's nothing I wouldn't do for these sweet girls.

Art Lessons

Gabby had her first taste of real art class over the last 2 days. She was extra happy that her cousin BZ was in the class with her! And I think they both are hooked.

Thank you Cindy for a great 2 days! See you in 2 weeks for Butterfly day!

Artist in the Making

This drawing was done by Gabby a few days ago, just from her looking at the DVD case from the movie Tale of Despereaux. There was no tracing involved. I couldn't ever come close to drawing this. I think she's showing us her talent at the young age of 6. Anyone have any ideas about how to cultivate this artist in the making?

Last Day of Kindergarten

I can't believe that a whole school year has come and gone. It seems just like yesterday that I posted about the First Day of Kindergarten!
Today seemed like any other Thursday morning but it's the last time we'll rush to school at 8am, it's the last time I'll pack just a snack, it's the last time she'll go to school without a backpack, and it's the last time she'll be home before lunchtime.

Kindergarten has come and gone. Off to First Grade!

Shoes That Tie

We bought Gabby her first pair of shoes that tie today. No more velcro here. We're big girls now! And she tied them on her first try!

Only Hiding

It's back. Back with a vengeance. It was only hiding.

The sickness that is.

Gabby started complaining about her ears hurting again last night and by 1:30am, there were tears and alot of moaning. By 2am, Zack was awake crying that "sissy" wasn't in her bed (they share a room) and by 2:30a the baby was screaming too. Daddy wasn't home from work yet so when he came tip toeing in at 3am, the drama had just ended. Zack was finally back to sleep, Josh had settled down and Gabby had just started to drift off to sleep. She was on his side of the bed, he crawled in on my side and I ended up in the middle. Within 20 minutes I was just starting to drift off to sleep and the snoring began. Oh great. I quietly as I could got out of the middle of our bed and started making my way to the guest room.

Tears again at 6am from Gabby, Josh was up at 6:30a and Zack at 7a. Off to the Dr. at 9:15a for a 9:45 appt.

Yep, double ear infections again. This time the pain is so bad that Motrin doesn't even take the edge off. He prescribed Robitussin with Codeine. Fever, chills, ear pain, no appetite, runny nose and cough.

Oh yeah, doesn't that sound fun?

Sick Ones Update

So, Gabby has been on antibiotics since Monday last week. Just yesterday, Zack decided to join her and his ear infection started. One trip to kids urgent care and 2 pharmacies later (and NO antibiotics by the way) we were back home. Now, the story about the pharmacy not filling his prescription. . . It's Saturday night at 6:50p and I drive up to the window at CVS drive thru. I see that they close at 7p, so I'm thinking, "great! I made it just in time". I hand the prescription over and the gal at the window starts asking me questions that make me realize that I'm not going to be able to get his medicine! So, I said to her, "Am I going to be able to get this filled tonight?" She says, "no". I look at my watch and yes, it's 6:50pm and they close at 7:00pm. Funny, I didn't know that 6:50p was the same as 7:00p. So i snatch the prescription out of her hand and take off for another pharmacy. Again, no luck. We came home empty handed and doubled up on motrin to make it through the night. Luckily, we did.

After church, we headed back to CVS drive thru and guess what? That same gal was working the drive through. She remembered me. She said, "oh, you're back". I said, "yes, I wasn't able to find a pharmacy to fill this and my poor boy has been in pain". She says, "oh! well, it usually takes at 15 minutes to fill this, can you give me that long?"

Are you kidding me? Last night she was nearly pushing me out of the drive thru and now she's willing to fill the prescription in 15 minutes.

Now that the two older kids have ear infections, I'm just waiting for the baby to come down with it too.

Will it end?

The Big Six!

Today my girl turns 6 years old and even as I type, I look at the clock and realize that it literally was 6 years ago to the MINUTE, that my Dr. told me to not go home from my regular appointment with her. She told me that I was to walk over to the hospital and check myself in...we were having a baby today!
I was on bedrest the last 2 months of my pregnancy. I had very high blood pressure. The baby was fine, it was me who was not! So, after being on my best bedrest behavior and still having blood pressures of 170/110, the Dr. said it was time to get this baby out.
I walked over to the hospital in a fog, thinking, "How can this be?" Dave isn't here with me. Isn't your water supposed to break before you have a baby? My mom isn't here. Oh my gosh, I"m having a baby today". Within 30 minutes, Dave was by my side and we started the induction process. My Dad and sister were on their way quickly and before I knew it, we were well into the process and I was having contractions that were more than I could bear. Thank God for the epidural!
8:56pm Gabby was born. 6 years later, I still love that little bundle (who of course is not so little anymore).

Happy Birthday my 6 year old wonder. I love you!
