Happy Birthday Pappy

Today is Pappy's birthday. I can't remember if he would have been 93 or 94. But either way, I miss him. I miss his laugh. I miss the way he'd always call me and tell me to be careful. I miss his silly stories and the way he remembered that I "went all the way down the mall to buy him coffee". I miss him talking about the time he nearly poured the entire box of baking soda in the Christmas cookies. I miss his harmonica playing. I miss seeing him ride his lawn mower all over the yard and pulling up to the kitchen window and asking for a hamburger. I miss him.

Happy Birthday Pappy. I'm sure if there are balloons, streamers and birthday cakes in heaven, you've found them and are having yourself one heck of a party. I love you!

Wow....the tears still come very easily as I read your memories and have some of my own. He was a great "Pappy" and dad.

Aw, that is so powerful. Not just what you said, but the picture of him, smiling, no LAUGHING! What a life to be remembered. You are blessed to have had him in your life. I don't have one of those; be grateful for the memories!
